Job Duties:

FARM LABORER: Worker will be required to complete the following activities as directed by supervisor: general vineyard/orchard maintenance, including removing debris, rocks and other trash on the farm, pulling weeds by hand, and cutting grass; thinning; pruning; suckering; tucking; lateral removal; leaf removal; disbudding; tying; vineyard canopy management; hand planting vines or fruit trees; lift and stack hay or straw bales; construct and maintain trellis; construct and maintain irrigation; drain tile repair; install grow tubes; hand sorting harvested grapes and removal of stems or leaves; upon completion of harvest, clean-up and organize harvest bins and dispose of stems and other grape materials at harvest site; drive and operate vehicles, tractors or other agricultural equipment such as loaders; spray crops with tractor and spray attachment; routine general repairs and maintenance of farm equipment and tools on farm; conduct farm building repairs; complete harvest preparation tasks such as spreading liners in bins, wash and sanitize harvesting bins or repair harvesting bins; hand harvest apples and grapes to quality standards; general maintenance and repair of bird netting and deer fencing; complete general hand tasks to include picking up garbage around the orchard/vineyard, removing old trees/vines, string and wire from trellis and orchard blocks; picking up sticks, rocks and brush throughout the farms; conduct various field and farm clean up tasks at end of season. Other duties assigned under this order will be consistent under Bureau of Labor Statistics Standard Occupational Classification: Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery and Greenhouse Workers (45-2092)

Special Requirements:

Experience Requirement: 2 verifiable months of commercial agriculture experience in fruit or vegetables required. Applicants must furnish job references from recent employers within the last 5 years establishing acceptable prior experience. Job requires worker to complete tasks in general farm labor, vineyard and orchard maintenance and hand harvest of apples and grapes. Employer will provide instructions and training on specific job duties. Season Commitment: Job offered requires worker be available for work for entire employment period. Work Rule Violations: Worker may be disciplined and/or terminated for cause for violating work rules provided at orientation. Drug testing done at employers expense and not utilized as pre-employment tool.
