Job Duties:
Job duties include preparing fields for planting and attaching farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools. Workers will operate tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, and other farm equipment; engage in planting, weeding, spraying, and harvesting activities; guide products on conveyors to regulate flow and remove diseased or rotten items; and load and unload crops or materials manually or with conveyors, hand trucks, forklifts, or transfer augers. Additional responsibilities include observing and listening to machinery to detect malfunctions, attaching equipment extensions or accessories, driving pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, as well as inspecting, adjusting, and performing routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. Workers may also be asked to wash or detail equipment, clean and organize potato storage and shop areas, and mow, trim, and maintain additional farmyards. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at the previous season's rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
