Job Duties:
Worker will be performing duties related to SOC 49-3041-Farm Equipment Mechanics and Service Technicians for the maintenance season of this agricultural operation. The primary duties for the duration of the contract period will be to diagnose, adjust, maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, production related equipment, generators and irrigation systems. Job duties include: • Rebuild and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, tillage tools, planters/seeders, hay equipment, pickups, semi’s, transmissions etc. Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments, as necessary. • Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports to locate and diagnose malfunctions. Record details of repairs made and parts used including conducting parts inventory. Examine and listen to equipment while in a steady state and state of operation, read and interpret for diagnosis inspection reports, and locate and diagnose malfunctions. • Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools. Clean and lubricate parts. Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, grinders, or saws. • Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools. Tune or overhaul engines. • Fabricate new metal parts, using drill presses, engine lathes, and other machine tools. Repair bent or torn sheet metal. • Remove openers from planters/seeders and rebuild as necessary replacing bearings, blades and worn parts. Rebuild seed meters and calibrate. • Rebuild hydraulic cylinders, hoses and other parts. Remove gangs from tillage equipment and rebuild with new bearings and wear parts. • Disassemble and rebuild wheel motors, pumps. • Operate power washer to remove dirt and oil before and after rebuilding equipment. • Utilize employer-provided computerized systems and software tools to document repairs performed, parts used, maintenance schedules, and equipment status. Must speak and understand English. • Winterize all equipment and worksites. Operate power washer to remove dirt and oil before and after rebuilding equipment. Paint equipment as needed. • Drive trucks to haul tools and equipment for on-site repair of large machinery. Mechanic experience of at least 3 months is required. This job is seasonal in nature as it relates to the production of fruits and vegetables on the employer’s farm. The dates needed cover the maintenance period to service equipment at the end of the growing season and to prepare equipment at the beginning of the growing season. Job involves stooping, lifting and working outside in inclement weather & outdoor temperatures in excess of 100 degrees. Raises and/or bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker employed pursuant to this job order, at the company's sole discretion, based on individual factors including work performance, skill, and tenure. Must be able to lift & carry up to 75lbs. Must have legal authority to work in the US.
