- Job Duties:
- Workers will perform routine manual labor associated with dairy farm production and hay and feed production. Duties include feeding and watering dairy cattle; cleaning and maintaining barns, stalls, milking parlors, pens, and work areas; assisting with general livestock care such as moving cattle and observing animal health; loading, unloading, distributing, stacking, and storing hay and feed; assisting with hay and forage crop activities including planting, harvesting, baling, and storage; operating basic, non-specialized farm equipment such as tractors, skid steers, wagons, and feed mixers after on-the-job training; and performing general farm maintenance including cleaning equipment and maintaining fences, feed bunks, barns, and farm grounds. Work is physically demanding and requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting, and carrying up to 75 pounds, and will be performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Workers must be willing to work long hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the dairy operation. Drug screens will be conducted post-hire, upon accident or incident and will be at the cost of the employer. Failure or refusal of the drug test is grounds for immediate termination. During the harvest, workers can expect to work up to 70 hours a week.
