- This job requires Black Currant, Dandelion, Echinacea, Grass, Oat, Red Clover, Skullcap, Blueberry,Sheep Sorrel, Elderberry, Cover Crops, Research Crops and Valarian by the worker. There are general conditions of employment, general job specifications, and individual requirements that are specific to each job duty.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: Fieldwork begins at the assigned time shortly after daylight. Work may be performed during light rain and in high humidity and in freezing or high heat temperatures. The worker may be required to work in the orchard when trees are wet with dew/rain and should have suitable clothing for variable weather conditions. Worker will lift or load up to 50 lbs. Workers must possess the requisite physical strength and endurance to repeat the harvest process throughout the workday. Workers must work at a sustained, vigorous pace and make bona fide efforts to work efficiently and consistently that are reasonable under the climatic and all other working conditions. The Worker may never ride on agricultural equipment not designed for work-related riding purposes or any other non-passenger-intended equipment unless instructed and authorized by the employer or supervisor to do so. All work-related injuries must be immediately reported to the crew leader, foreman, or supervisor. Workers compensation claims may be presented to any medical provider, through your employer, or through a state agency if applicable.
Workers can also:
Drive tractors
Spray and mix organic fertilizers
Operate trucks to carry farm equipment, crops and farmworkers
Perform general repair of agricultural equipment
Pack crops into containers
Dehydration and washing of crops at dryer and washing facilities on site
Lead dehydration, tractor, orchard and irrigation crew
Leading crews—a select few employees will lead crews in hoeing, dehydration, irrigation, washing, and tractor driving.
The Employer attests that these workers will be properly trained by their supervisor, who has a valid private applicator's license, which is the standard pursuant to the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA). Furthermore, their supervisor will be available to ensure that workers understand all chemical label, safety instructions, and application instructions pursuant to WSDA.
