- Job Duties:
- Record information about crops such as pesticide use, yields, or costs; Direct and monitor work during planting and harvesting of crops; Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops such as working with bins and augers to load carts and trailers; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment such as poly pipe, siphon tubes, pivots, drip; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) such as sprayer, cotton stripper/picker, combine, tillage tool to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops such as cotton, wheat; Load inputs and drive trucks to transport to fields, load crops and drive trucks to transport to fields and storage facilities such as elevators, gin, bins, silos, piles/bags; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures such as water structures, feed bunks, corrals; Mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools; Attend to live farm animals including cattle such as vaccinating, supplementing, feeding, calving, weaning, sorting, selling; Assist with cattle grazing on winter crops; Speak and understand English.
