- Job Duties:
- We are a 12,000 acre operation who needs assistance with growing corn, grain sorghum, rice, soybeans, sunflowers and managing wildlife and timber. Job duties may include and are not limited to tasks such as: apply products such as fertilizers, pesticides, growth inhibitors, etc, attach/detach implements, be able to handle working in high humidity, clean work areas, construct facilities, construct structures to support plant growth, direct and monitor work during planting and harvesting, feel plants/crops leaves and note coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease, haul and spread materials such as but not limited to fertilizer to condition the soil, identify plants, crops, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers, inform farm managers of plants or crops progress, load inputs and drive trucks to transport to fields, maintain grounds and landscaping, mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter, spreader, sprayer type machinery, operate self propelled machinery, repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment, repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures, set up repair, maintain, and operate specialized equipment, tilling soil, transplanting, weeding, thinning, pruning crops, use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, and knives, use hand tools such as wrenches, crow bars, air tools, electric tools, work in extreme temperatures. Workers will mark trees for removal to optimize growth and mast of other trees. Workers will also operate equipment and hand tools to maintain roads and trails, this could include mowing, grading, leveling, brush removal and spraying. Assist in the management and preservation of wildlife habitat on the farm during the migration of waterfowl and deer such as: providing feed supplements and filling feeders for wildlife on the property; maintaining fences and removing and replacing wire; removing debris; servicing wetlands; controlling weed pressure; inspect and record wildlife population and report to managers and wildlife biologists; maintain adequate levels in ponds and wetland areas; Perform manual labor necessary to develop, maintain, or protect areas such as forested areas, woodlands, wetlands Equipment such as but not limited to the following will be used/operated by the workers in conjunction with the duties being performed: dirt moving equipment, forklift, mowers and other landscaping equipment, pickups, cars, etc, planters, self-propelled machinery, sprayers, spreaders, tillage equipment, tractors. The workers will be performing the duties to help produce:, bushes, corn, grain sorghum, rice, soybeans, sunflowers, trees, wheat. Must speak and understand English.
