- Job Duties:
- All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in the job order and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in Section A.3 & A.4. Workers are needed to plant, maintain and harvest various fruit, vegetables, and flowers. Work duties include picking stones, hand tilling, hoeing, weeding, transplanting, planting, cultivating, spraying, fertilizing, pruning, and harvesting. Experience required in mechanical planting, transplanting, cultivating, seeding, and spraying. Workers will perform other farm related duties as the need arises, including cleaning fruit and vegetables; preparing products for storage or delivery to farm stand; bunching produce and flowers; arranging flowers from small arrangements to architectural-scale arrangements, garlands, and wreaths; maintaining farm buildings and machinery; operating and maintain irrigation systems; loading and unloading produce onto trucks; and pruning by hand or chainsaw. The specific type of fruit crops workers will harvest and pack if employed in the job order are Raspberries and Strawberries. The specific type of fruit and vegetable crops workers will harvest and pack if employed in the job order are Asparagus, Green and Wax Beans, Beets, Broccoli, Brussell Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cucumber, Egg Plant, Kohlrabi, Arugula & Radicchio Lettuce, Boxed & Leek Onions, Parsley, English, Sugar snap Snow Peas, Potatoes, Radish, Small & Large Peppers, Patty Pan, Winter & zucchini Squash, Spinach, Cherry, Green, Grape & Yellow Tomatoes, Gourds, Indian Corn and Pumpkins. Workers may operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis. Workers that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid driver’s license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver's license. Workers who do drive will still perform the same field work and other duties as non-driving workers; driving is not a primary duty. The work assigned will be physically demanding, long periods of standing, bending, kneeling, and stooping for long periods of time will be required. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. The employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform assigned duties. Workers must be available for work Monday through Saturday. Workers must be willing to work in various extreme weather conditions from damp and cold spring and fall days to hot and humid summer days. Workers may require to work 7 hours shift within the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm from Monday through Friday, and workers may require to work 5 hours shift within the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm on Saturdays. The daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. The employer will notify workers of any change to the schedule. The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the workers to satisfactorily perform duties described in this job description. Workers will be given at least a 60-minute lunch break which is staggered between 11am - 1pm as decided by the workers. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and return to work after their 60 minutes are up. Workers should report for work with their own suitable clothing and must be able to take directions in simple English.
