Job Duties:

Employees will be expected to perform work activities related to planting, weeding, cultivating, harvesting, and packing onions. Workers will be expected to harvest, clip, bag, and/or load produce. Hand Pick Onions: Worker will pick up onions at ground level and clip each root and top of onion using supplied shears and place in bucket. Workers must exercise extreme care not to drop the onions at any time during handling. Workers should place the onions in the bucket carefully and with caution to avoid bruising or fingernail cuts. After the bucket is full, the worker will transfer the onions to a common bin box as directed by field supervisor. Loose onions or onions spilling out of field bags must be picked up and placed back into buckets or field bins. Workers will not pick seed onions. Rate of pay is $14.98 per bin box. Cultivate: Workers will work with hoes and other tools alike to cultivate the crop. Workers must be careful not to damage plants at any time during cultivation. Packing Onions: Workers will sort and pack onions based on quality standards and sizes specified by the employer. Weeding: Workers will hand pull weeds competing with crops and will dispose of weeds according to instructions given by their supervisor. General Activities During Operations “General”: All Crops: During field operations, workers may be required to operate forklifts, drive a truck, pull weeks, move irrigation pipe, clean and repair housing, and perform farm and field sanitation.

Workers will manually pull, plant, and load onion plants. Workers will also hand-harvest onions. Workers must exercise extreme care not to drop farm produce any time during handling. Able to work in hold, cold and/or humid weather bending or stooping to reach ground level crops, and able to stand on feet for long periods of time. Workers should report to work in their own suitable clothing.
