- Job Duties:
- Workers will perform a variety of manual and machine-assisted agricultural tasks. Duties include setting up, adjusting, maintaining, and repairing farm irrigation systems. Workers will operate tractors and other agricultural equipment to perform routine farm operations, including leveling uneven ground with topsoil, assisting with sod harvesting using mechanical harvesters, transporting sod pallets, and loading customer orders using forklifts. At times, workers may be required to manually load sod and stack pallets in preparation for harvesting operations. Workers must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and must be physically capable of performing strenuous farm labor in outdoor conditions. Employees will assist with the planting, cultivating, and harvesting of agricultural crops including, but not limited to, tulips, flowers, lavender, and pumpkins. Workers will be responsible for maintaining farm fields and property by controlling weeds and vegetation using tractors, mowers, harvesters, weed-eating equipment, and some hand weeding. Additional duties include cleaning and washing equipment, maintaining a clean and orderly shop and work areas, assisting with building maintenance, building farm activities, and repair projects, emptying trash receptacles, and to help maintain, and repair fencing on the farm.
Work will occur throughout the season, including weekends. Weekend work will be scheduled on a rotating basis, with approximately half of the crew assigned to Saturdays and the remaining half assigned to Sundays. During peak production periods, workers may be required to work up to 65 hours per week, weather and crop conditions permitting.
