Job Duties:

The Farm Associate will perform poultry and egg production duties on an egg production farm. Work is performed in a biosecure poultry environment and involves regular handling of live poultry. Worker must follow all animal welfare, safety, and biosecurity protocols. Duties include collecting eggs; inspecting/sorting eggs for quality and size per company standards; handling and transferring eggs to designated storage areas; cleaning and sanitizing egg handling areas; and recording egg counts and production data. Workers will observe flocks daily, provide feed and water, adjust feeders, drinkers, ventilation, and lighting as needed, and catch, handle, or move birds for weighing, treatment, or relocation. Workers will maintain biosecurity at all times, including cleaning and sanitizing poultry houses and equipment, performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting of farm equipment (such as feed lines, fans, and water systems), and complying with required biosecurity testing, including routine personal (fecal) salmonella swab collection for all workers, conducted during paid work time at no cost to the worker. Workers must comply with required shower-in/shower-out procedures (paid time). Work may involve exposure to dust, odors, heat, cold, moisture, and loud noise. Required farm clothing, footwear, towels, and protective equipment are provided at no cost.

Special Requirements:

2 months of agricultural or poultry experience acceptable. Basic reading, writing, and math skills required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Must be able to stand for extended periods (8+ hours), perform repetitive tasks, and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Must be able to accurately identify and differentiate colors. Must be able to bend, stoop, grip, and grasp frequently. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and a flexible schedule as required by farm operations. Must be able to work safely with detergents, disinfectants, and farm chemicals. Weekly personal (fecal) Salmonella testing is required for all workers and will be conducted during paid work time at no cost to the worker.
