Job Duties:

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Clearing ground of rocks, sticks, & roots by hand, clear brush and trees. General field & fence maintenance. Use wood to build and repair boxes for digger with the use of nail guns or hammer. Manually weeding fields by hand or using hand tools (machete, hoes). Drain water from fields with hand tools and shovel when needed. Work in extreme weather conditions. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Sweet Potatoes - Workers will assist with cutting potato slips by hand with a knife, place in boxes to load & unload onto trucks. Dipping potato slips. Walk behind potato trans planter and fill in slips by hand. Riding mechanical trans planter and loading slips in planting cups. May drive a tractor pulling transplanting equipment and/or a Skid Loader. De-vining plants by hand. Covering beds with plastic and helping to remove plastic. The workers may be asked to dig and transplant potatoes, in sweet potato fields. Workers with drivers license may be asked to drive workers to/from housing, worksite, and grocery store.

Special Requirements:

It is recommended that you have experience with Agricultural Equipment and knowledge of Agricultural Field work due to safety reasons related to possible equipment injury, heat stroke possibility, and food safety. Must be 18 years or older. Employer may conduct a background checks to all new applicants at the owner's expense. Valid driver's license required to operate the company's vehicles. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to the workers. Lifting requirement of 5- 60 lbs. The majority of the workday is spent on one's feet and outdoors. Workers may stand in one place for any period of time. Workers should expect periods of little/no work during growing time. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach, and lift. Work is performed in outdoor agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, and other natural elements.
