Job Duties:
The Agricultural Equipment Operator / Hay Press Operator will support alfalfa harvesting, processing, and storage operations at large-scale irrigated farms in Arizona. This position includes operating and monitoring hay pressing equipment, forklifts, and other agricultural machinery, as well as assisting with general farm labor and field operations as needed. Workers will perform physically demanding agricultural tasks in outdoor and industrial farm environments under extreme desert conditions. This position is designed to allow flexibility across farm operations, including hay press operations, field labor, and equipment operation, based on operational needs. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Hay Press & Processing Operations Operate, monitor, and assist in the operation of hay pressing equipment used to compress and package alfalfa bales for storage and shipment. Observe machine operation to ensure proper alignment, pressure, bale integrity, and safe functioning; report mechanical issues to supervisors. Assist with feeding, staging, and removal of hay bales during pressing operations. Load, unload, stack, and transport hay bales using forklifts, loaders, or other agricultural material-handling equipment. Maintain cleanliness and organization of hay press work areas, including removal of debris and spilled material. Assist with basic routine maintenance of hay press equipment, including lubrication, cleaning, and inspection (no advanced mechanical repair required). General Farm & Equipment Operations Operate agricultural machinery including tractors, balers, loaders, swathers, rakes, and related equipment. Assist with cutting, baling, stacking, and transporting hay during harvest operations. Perform field labor tasks such as clearing debris, repairing irrigation lines, hand labor, and general farm upkeep. Assist with irrigation system setup, monitoring, and maintenance (center pivot, linear move, or drip irrigation). Transport tools, materials, and equipment around the farm using farm vehicles or trailers. Perform routine service tasks such as greasing equipment, checking fluids, and cleaning machinery. Safety & Teamwork Follow all safety protocols related to equipment operation, forklifts, hay press machinery, and field labor. Work cooperatively as part of a team to meet production schedules and quality standards. Perform other agricultural tasks as assigned to support efficient farm and hay press operations. During certain times of the season workers may be required to work a different 8 hour shift. Shifts include: Hourly Work Schedule: 6:00 am-2:30 pm, and 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM. Workers will be given as much notice as possible when changing shifts.

Special Requirements:
Three (3) months of verifiable experience performing agricultural labor or operating farm equipment. Must be able to safely operate or assist with forklifts and agricultural machinery after on-the-job training. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive physical tasks. . Must be able to work in extreme desert conditions, including high heat, dust, and outdoor environments. Must follow directions from supervisors and comply with all company and safety policies. Must be able to perform repetitive physical tasks, bend, stoop, and climb onto equipment safely.
