Job Duties:

Heavy labor of picking avocados per color and size requirements as instructed by company superviors. Climbing a 36-foot extension ladder as needed to pick fruit. Putting fruit into sack, which is carried on the front of the body, with straps around the shoulder and back for support. Sack full of fruit can weigh up to 90 lbs. Sack is emptied into bin in a manner as instructed by supervisor. This is repeated until bin is full. Workers will help with sorting according to size and color under supervision. May also help with packing fruit as needed. Worker will need to walk around the tree, under the tree, within tree branches, and from a ladder to pick the designated fruit. May operate farm equipment and or vehicles around the farm. Workers who possess a valid driver’s license and meet all applicable legal requirements, including holding a doctor’s certificate as required by 29 CFR § 500.105, may be asked to drive vehicles for transporting workers, goods, or commodities on company business. This task is voluntary, compensable, and not a mandatory job duty. Workers without a valid driver’s license or doctor’s certificate will still be fully eligible for employment and are not disqualified from any other job responsibilities outlined in this application. The employer can and will make alternative arrangements for the transportation of workers should the need arise.

Special Requirements:

Must have 2 months verifiable experience in Avocado harvest. In order to perform this kind of work, workers must be able to work outside for at least 7 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance to conduct harvest activities, working rapidly and skillfully with hands. The worker will be provided all necessary equipment to perform these harvest-related tasks.
