Job Duties:

Workers will perform manual and mechanized agricultural tasks related to planting, pruning, harvesting, handling, and processing of fruit crops. Duties may vary from time to time based on crop conditions, weather, and operational needs. All work is performed under close supervision and in accordance with employer instructions, safety rules, sanitation requirements, and applicable food safety regulations. Field and Harvest Job Duties: • Hand-harvest fruit and place into buckets, lugs, bins, or tubs. • Place bucket of fruit in a shady area under a tree or bush for pickup. • Pick up trash and debris around farm, housing, fields, and processing areas. Prune fruit bushes and remove wood debris. • Operate and maintain field irrigation systems. • Assist with mechanical harvesting equipment. • Ride mechanical harvester as assigned. • Load and stack clean empty fruit lugs onto field mechanical harvester. • Remove debris from mechanical field harvester conveyors and chutes. • Transfer lugs of fruit from mechanical field harvester to ATV trailer. • Maintain and supply drinking water coolers, disposable cups, and trash containers. • Clean and sanitize field equipment and mechanical harvesting equipment. • Wash and sanitize picking buckets and fruit lugs. Packing House Job Duties (Located on Farm): • Sort, grade, and pack fruit into clamshells and boxes. • Assemble boxes and packing materials. • Stack and organize packed products. • Remove culled or damaged fruit and used cardboard boxes for disposal. • Operate packing line equipment. • Sweep, vacuum and mop floors in processing house at the end of each shift. • Clean and sanitize processing equipment at the end of each shift. • Wash, clean, and sanitize fruit lugs, bins, buckets, tubs, and related to equipment. Tools, Equipment, and Supplies: • Pruning shears, loppers, pruning saws, knives. • Hoes, rakes, sprayers, shovels. • Buckets, fruit lugs, bins, tubs. • Packing line equipment and hand tools. • Pressure washing equipment. • Cleaning and sanitizing supplies. • Brooms, mops, mop buckets, vacuum cleaner. • Drinking water coolers and drinking cups. • Trash containers. • Mechanical harvesting equipment, ATV’s and trailers. • Irrigation equipment and basic hand tools. Workers my transport other workers to worksite, field/housing, and grocery store.

Special Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have one (1) month experience in picking and packing, planting, harvesting similar crops such as fresh Blueberries, Blackberries, or coffee beans. It is recommended that you have experience with Agricultural Equipment and knowledge of Agricultural Field work due to safety reasons related to possible equipment injury, heat stroke possibility, and food safety. Valid drivers license required only for assigned driving duties. Safety training for food safety, tools, and equipment will be provided. Appropriate clothing and footwear required. Cell phone use limited to breaks and emergencies. Workers should expect periods of little/no work and hours/days will vary due to weather conditions beyond the employers control and daily hours may be extended due to planting, harvesting and packing demands.
