Job Duties:

FARM LABORER: Worker will be required to complete the following activities: fruit tree planting & transplanting; vegetable planting and sowing; trellis system install, maintenance and removal; deer fence repair; irrigation system install and maintenance; fruit tree and vegetable plant care and maintenance such as train, tying, prune, trim, stake, trunk painting or thin; general orchard and vegetable garden maintenance such as laying mylar, picking up rocks, removing old string and wire from trellis and orchard blocks, weeding, hoeing, fertilizing, or stump removal; wash and sanitize harvesting bins; drive and operate vehicles, trucks, tractors or other agricultural equipment such as forklifts; spray crops with tractor and spray attachment; routine general repairs and maintenance of farm equipment and tools on farm; hand harvest to quality standards of apples, apricots, asparagus, cherries, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums, pumpkin/squash, rhubarb, strawberries, and commercial garden produce; pack employer-grown produce to food safety standards; apple pressing, solely for employer’s product; conduct various field and farm clean up tasks at end of season. Other duties assigned under this order will be consistent under Bureau of Labor Statistics Standard Occupational Classification: Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery and Greenhouse Workers (45-2092)

Special Requirements:

Experience Requirement: 2 months verifiable experience in commercial agriculture in fruit or vegetable required. Applicants must furnish job references from employers of the last 5 years establishing acceptable prior experience. Job requires worker to complete tasks in general farm labor, packing of employer produce and hand harvest of apples, apricots, asparagus, cherries, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums, pumpkin/squash, rhubarb, strawberries, and commercial garden produce. Employer will provide instructions and training on specific job duties. Season Commitment: Job offered requires worker be available for work for entire employment period. Work Rule Violations: Worker may be disciplined and/or terminated for cause for violating work rules provided at orientation. Drug screen testing done at employers expense and not utilized as a pre-employment tool.
