- All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in the job order and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in Section A.3 & A.4. Workers are needed to plant, maintain, and harvest various vegetables crops. Workers will maintain and harvest fruits and berries. Workers must have a working knowledge of and ability to perform various tasks required in vegetable and berry production. Workers will perform field work including planting, transplanting, weeding, thinning, hoeing, mulching, and harvesting vegetables and berries. Workers will sort, wash, pack and otherwise prepare various crops for storage. Workers will assist with transporting hay back to the barn from the fields and will load and unload and stack hay from wagons. Workers will cut brushes and other vegetation in and around fields, buildings, and under fences. Workers will assist with machinery maintenance, washing, and greasing. Workers may use hand tools such as but not limited to shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, hand saws, and knives. Workers may be asked to operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as needed basis. Workers that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid driver’s license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver's license. Workers who do drive will still perform the same field work and other duties as non-driving workers; driving is not a primary duty. Workers should report for work with their own suitable clothing and must be willing and able to work in various extreme weather conditions from damp and cold spring and fall days to hot and humid summer days. The work assigned will be physically demanding, walking, bending, stooping and kneeling for long periods of time will be required. Workers must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Workers are required to work 8-hour shifts within the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm Monday through Friday. This totals 40 hours per week. The 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM range accounts for farm conditions (e.g., weather or crop readiness) to ensure workers complete the required hours. Workers will not work a full 12-hour shift. Workers may offer to work on Saturday or Sunday, subject to mutual agreement between the employer and the employee. Workers will be given at least a 30-minute lunch break which is staggered between 11am - 1pm as decided by the workers and management. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and return to work after their 30 minutes are up. The daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. The employer will notify workers of any change to the schedule. The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the workers to satisfactorily perform duties described in this job description. Workers may be entitled to wage increase or bonus pay based on performance, productivity, or other employer‑defined factors. Bonus pay is not guaranteed. The employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform all duties assigned. Workers must be able to operate agricultural equipment safely and must be able to take directions in simple English.
