Job Duties:
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. General Farm Labor All other misc farm tasks as assigned by supervisor (shoveling, weeding, picking up trash, etc.) Planting Loading and unloading of plant trays from plant delivery boxes placing one plant into each hole made by plant machine and gathering soil to fill in space around the plant with soil using hand. Walking also behind planting machine, placing a plant in hold that was missed and also filling in the hole with soil by using hand. Removing plants at walkways. (Commodities: Watermelon, Winter Hard Squash, Tomato, Sweet Corn, Okra, Potato. Loading Watermelon: Walking through filed and loading watermelons onto the bus. Packing/Unloading Watermelons: Unloading watermelons from bus onto the conveyor belt for packing. Packing watermelons into harvest containers. Cutting Watermelons Workers are to walk along watermelon vines in the harvest field and clip ripe watermelons from vine and load clipped watermelons into harvest vehicle or containers. Packing of Crop (In Field) The worker will be required to do the following tasks on Farm Sites: Grading, packing, box making, cleaning, sanitation, stacking, record keeping, hand jack and forklift operation, dumping, strapping, repacking, stickering, trimming and cutting with knives and scissors. Packing House Tasks: The worker will be required to do the following tasks: Grading, Packing, box making, cleaning, sanitation, stacking, record keeping, hand jack and forklift operation, dumping, strapping, repacking, stickering, trimming and cutting with knives and scissors at the packing house located on farm property. Harvest Okra: The worker will be required to clip, cut, or pull products from plants into bucket/container. Then carry bucket/container to box (20lb.) or mule train to be placed into tank or bins. Harvest Peas: The worker will be required to clip, cut, or pull products from lplants into bucket/container. Then carry bucket container to box (20 lb) or mule train to be placed into tank or bins. Harvest Tomatoes (Round /Roma): Using a 24-quart bucket, remove mature tomatoes from the plant with both hands (also remove calyx and stem from tomato) and place into the bucket. Repeat the process on each plant until the tomato bucket is full. Then lift the bucket and place it on your shoulder, stand upright and walk at a brisk pace until you reach the truck with bins. Lift the bucket from your shoulder with both hands and hand it to the person next to the bin. The person next to the bin dumps the tomatoes into the bin and returns the bucket with a ticket in it. Save the ticket to keep count of how many buckets you pick. Repeat process. Paid per bucket. Harvest Sweet Corn The worker will be required to clip, cut, or pull products from plants into buckets. Then carry bucket to truck or mule train or bin on filed truck to be dumped into tank or bins. Harvest Winter Hard Squash The worker will be required to clip, cut, or pull product from plants into bucket. Then carry bucket to truck or mule train to be dumped into tank or bins.
