Job Duties:
Crops: Corn Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Roguing Duties: Walk through the fields, identify, and remove male corn plants growing among female rows using a shovel. 100% accuracy is expected. The worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the corn plants that are from a different species leaving the field ready for detasseling. Workers will walk repeatedly through the rows (aisles) between corn plants, identifying and removing off-type or cross-pollinated plants to ensure genetic purity of the crop. Workers will carry a shovel or similar hand tool while walking male rows to identify plants that differ in leaf structure, stalk characteristics, root formation, or overall appearance. Once identified, the plant must be cut completely approximately five (5) inches above ground level and left on the ground as instructed. Removal must be complete and accurate. This process will be performed across all assigned locations and may require walking the same rows multiple times during the season. Corn detasseling: the worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the spikes that are left after the detasseling machine passes through. Walk, inspect, and remove tassels from female corn plants with 100% quality. Handle pollen and sharp leaves with care. Workers will walk repeatedly through the rows between corn plants removing tassels. Workers will remove the spikes and drop them on the ground. Seed Corn Sorting: After the machine harvests the seed corn from the fields, the corn cobs will be put on a conveyor belt so the workers can sort the corn cubs by size and class. Flowers: workers will perform agricultural work including planting, weeding and harvesting flowers along with miscellaneous agriculture tasks pertaining to the operations of business. Hand weeding: Workers will walk through the corn fields pooling the weeds around the corn plants. The worker in order to perform this kind of work must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance, working quickly and skillfully with their hands. Housing Rules and Expectations: Keep the living space clean at all times. Sweep all floors daily. Mop all floors weekly. Do not leave trash or litter in the yard. Absolutely no damage to the housing property. No loud music or parties are allowed after dark. Do not leave the air conditioning on when you're away during the day. Do not tamper with, remove, or cover smoke detectors. Batteries must remain in the detectors at all times. Do not remove heaters or fire extinguishers from the unit. Extension cords are not permitted. Do not remove or damage window or door screens. Fighting and possession of weapons are strictly prohibited. No physical altercations of any kind are allowed in the housing units. The use of alcohol or illegal substances is strictly forbidden. Bathroom Guidelines: Always flush toilet paper after each use. Place used toilet paper in the toilet — do not dispose of it in trash bins. Clean surfaces such as the toilet, sink, and shower when dirty. Empty the bathroom wastebasket when it is full. Bedroom Guidelines: Make your bed each morning before leaving the unit. Do not dismantle or rearrange bunk beds. Overnight guests are not allowed. Keep your belongings within your designated space. Storing food in the bedrooms is not permitted.
