- Job Duties:
- Duties may include: Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. Clean work areas, and maintain grounds and landscaping. Plant, spray, weed, fertilize, water, and prune plants, shrubs, and trees, using gardening tools. Harvest plants, and transplant or pot and label them. Maintain, repair and operate irrigation and climate control systems. During calving season, workers will be expected to assist with livestock duties such as: Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps & other related Farm Laborer activities as per SOC/OES 45-2092 (onetonline.org).
Possible weekend/holiday work.
The employer may choose to pay experienced workers, regardless of origin, more than the published minimum wage rate.
