Job Duties:
Workers will perform manual and skilled agricultural labor related to commercial beekeeping operations. Duties include inspecting honey bee colonies for health, population strength, brood patterns, pests, and disease; feeding colonies using approved methods; installing, repairing, and maintaining beehives, frames, and supers; handling live bees safely; assisting with queen management including locating, marking, introducing, and replacing queens; applying approved pest and disease treatments according to farm protocols; assisting with honey production including removing honey supers, extracting honey, and cleaning equipment; preparing colonies for seasonal changes; loading, unloading, and securing beehives and equipment for transport within Texas; cleaning and maintaining tools, work areas, and protective equipment; and performing related beekeeping tasks as directed by supervisors. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, wind, and dust. Workers must be willing and able to work around live stinging insects while wearing required protective gear.

Job requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and walking. Work is performed outdoors for extended periods in agricultural conditions. Worker must be physically able to safely handle live honey bees while wearing required protective equipment.
