Job Duties:
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Workers will perform manual labor required in the production, maintenance, and shipment of greenhouse-grown plants in a wholesale operation. Work will include, but is not limited to, the following duties: Crop Maintenance and Care: Water crops manually or with automated irrigation systems. Fertilize and monitor nutrient programs as directed. Pinch, prune, or trim plants for quality and shape. Remove weeds, moss, and debris from pots and walkways. Monitor for pests or diseases and report issues to supervisors. Adjust greenhouse environmental controls such as vents and shade cloth. Move plants for spacing, light, or shipment (includes moving trays, planters, or hanging baskets as needed). Deadhead, clean, and maintain plants for appearance and quality. These tasks may occur outside regular work hours or on weekends as necessary. Harvesting and Shipping: Grade, select, and prepare finished plants for sale or shipment. Sleeve, tag, and pack plants in trays, boxes, or on racks for transport. Load and unload carts, racks, or trucks. Maintain records of shipments and product counts. Inspect plants for quality and remove unsalable stock. Greenhouse and Facility Maintenance: Sweep, wash, and sanitize greenhouse benches, tools, and aisles. Dispose of plant waste, soil, and debris in designated areas. Assist in maintaining greenhouse structures-repair plastic, shade, cloth, groundcover and/or screens. Maintain irrigation systems, hoses, waterline, sprinkler heads and nozzles in good working order. Operate or assist with small equipment (seeders, pot fillers, planter, labeler). Assist with installation of seasonal coverings, fans, and ventilation equipment. Maintain walkways and gravel driveways by raking, patching, or leveling as needed. Mow lawns and trim vegetation on employer property. Perform light maintenance such as painting, cleaning work areas, and repairing carts or benches. Assist with replacing greenhouse roofing materials (poly film, panels, or glazing) under supervision, including securing and sealing roof components. Workers must be able to climb a ladder and work above ground level in greenhouse gutters, without fear of heights. Workers may assist with minor repairs or maintenance of buildings and equipment under direct supervision. No specialized skills or experience required. Housing and Grounds Maintenance: Workers will be required to keep employer-provided housing in clean, orderly condition. Workers must maintain the lawn and exterior of the rented home (mowing, trimming, disposing of trash). Workers must comply with all cleanliness and safety standards for housing inspections. Housing is subject to zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy. General Labor and Support: Unload incoming supplies (soil, pots, fertilizer). Organize and restock materials in storage areas. Operate hand tools and small powered equipment safely. Perform other related duties consistent with greenhouse operations. Workers will be expected to be able to operate agricultural equipment including but not limited to mowers, weed eaters and golf carts. Worker may asked to drive workers to/from housing to worksite and to grocery store/errands once a week.

Workers must be 18 years or older. Employer provides on the job training for all tasks. If asked to transport workers, a Missouri Drivers License must be able to be obtained and they must have a clean driving record (noc major moving violations such as but not limited to Driving While Intoxicated or Reckless Driving) and be able to qualify as an insured driver under the employers auto insurance policy. The company may conduct criminal background checks on all new applicants for employment at employers expense. All tools, supplies, safety gear and equipment will be provided at no cost to the workers. The majority of the day is spent on ones feet or bent positions for long periods of time and is required in greenhouses. Work performed in greenhouse environments subject to heat, humidity, and cold. Workers must be able to perform manual tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
