Job Duties:

Drive and control farm equipment and attached farm implements to plant, irrigate, cultivate and harvest trees. Adjust, inspect, repair and service farm machinery. Specifically, they will set up and operate irrigation equipment, operate mowers, fertilize soil, or to plant cultivate, spray and harvest trees. They will repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements and mechanical equipment; apply herbicides and fertilizers to trees; clear and maintain irrigation ditches; and report to farm owners/managers as needed. Manipulate controls to set, activate operations to detect equipment malfunctions. Adjust, repair and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions. Operate towed machines such as seed drills or manure spreaders to plant, fertilize, dust and spray crops. Using hand sprayers, spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insets, fungus and weed growth and diseases. Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery. Irrigate soil using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches, pipes and pumps. Workers may receive salary increases and bonuses based on merit, skill and/or experience at the sole discretion of the employer.
