Job Duties:
Workers will perform assigned duties as described in this clearance order. Rogueing: the worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the corn plants that are from a different species leaving the field ready for detasseling. Corn detasseling: the worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the spikes that are left after the detasseling machine passes through. Workers will remove the spikes and drop them on the ground. Seed Corn Sorting: After the machine harvests the seed corn from the fields, the corn cobs will be put on a conveyer belt so the workers can sort the corn cubs by size and class. Hand weeding: Workers will walk through the fields pulling the weeds around the crop plants. General Farm Maintenance and Miscellaneous Activities: When primary harvesting or agricultural work is temporarily unavailable due to weather, crop conditions, operational needs, physical work restrictions, or other lawful business reasons, workers may be assigned miscellaneous incidental duties directly related to the agricultural operation. These duties will not replace or substantially reduce the availability of primary agricultural work. Such activities include general clean-up, weeding, hoeing, trimming, digging, cutting, topping, and the removal of weeds, vines, debris, rocks, and trash from fields, fence lines, farm property, and agricultural structures. Workers may also be required to perform the sprouting, pruning, and painting of trees, handle and stack bags of seed, bale corn shucks, and fill bins or dryers with seed. Additionally, assignments may include basic irrigation maintenance, repair, and adjustments, as well as the routine installation and removal of plastic mulch and irrigation drip tape. Field sanitation and equipment upkeep activities will include washing, cleaning, disinfecting, and performing routine operator maintenance on harvest buckets, bins, trailers, hand tools, farm vehicles, and other agricultural equipment. Finally, workers may be required to assist with the basic cleaning, repair, and routine upkeep of employer-provided housing and common-use facilities as needed to maintain safe and sanitary conditions.
