Job Duties:
Workers will perform described job specifications as instructed by the Farm Manager or Crew Supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time and may include one or more of the following job specifications: Lay Plastic (Drip): Workers are required to load 75 to 80 lbs. rolls of plastic and drip tape rolls weighing approximately 50lbs onto machinery and ride on the back of machinery to ensure rolls are distributed evenly on beds of dirt. Workers are required to ride fertilizer wagon and use a shovel to make sure there is no clogging of fertilizer at distribution. Workers are required to remove casing when rolls of plastic and drip tape have emptied and repeat process. Plastic machine riders have other tasks required to lay plastic such as: bed pressing, clean out fertilizer hoppers, painting numbers and measuring row lengths. Workers are required to use a shovel to tuck in the ends of the plastic being laid by machinery at the ends of each row. Repairs are to be made to plastic and splices as necessary throughout field. Units covered will be divided by number of workers on the crew times the pay rate. Units covered will be divided by number of workers on the crew times the pay rate. V DITCHES -End & Row Cutting: Worker is to cut plastic at each hundred-foot marked area to create a walkway by slicing with shovel and tuck plastic after removing excess dirt to create walkways for harvest. Workers are required to dig a spillway at each row designated; by the removal of dirt and forming a plastic barrier with rolls of plastic to create a spillage for water to drain.
