Job Duties:
Monitor, care for and move livestock using 4-wheelers and side-by-sides to pastures for grazing; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; assist with calving; place mineral blocks; vaccinate livestock, herd into corral and/or stall and manually restrain animals; apply medications to cuts and bruises; spray livestock with insecticide; assist with castration of livestock; clip identifying notches or brand animals; manually clean stalls/corrals; drive trucks; manually hoist/stack hay bales; basic maintenance of fence in rough terrain. Mechanical skills and experience are required to use equipment necessary to perform the tasks above; welding experience is required. Must be able to find and maintain bearings to grazing areas and fields. In addition to the above, the Senior Farm Ranch Hand will assign and oversee daily task lists for General Farm Ranch Hands, ensuring work is completed correctly and on schedule; train and mentor new or less experienced hands on animal handling, equipment operation, and safety procedures; serve as the on-site point of contact in the Foreman's absence for routine operational questions; inspect completed work, including fencing, corral maintenance, and livestock handling, for quality and report deficiencies; monitor equipment condition and coordinate basic maintenance/repair scheduling among the crew; communicate directly with the Foreman or ranch management regarding herd health concerns, equipment needs, and daily progress; and step in to make time-sensitive decisions in the field, such as during calving emergencies or livestock injury, when the Foreman is not immediately available.

Employer provided items (at no cost to the worker): All tools and equipment necessary to perform the duties assigned as well as transportation between worker(s) on-site housing and the work site. The expected work schedule may be required in a split shift due to the nature of the job duties. Hours may vary due to weather, time of year and the requirements of the job. Work may be offered more than the specified hours per day, but only required to work the hours specified. Work may be offered 7 days a week but only required 6 days a week. Additional hours required during calving season. The job entails working around farm machinery, a variety of farm animals as well as exposure to predators and snakes; Most duties are performed out of doors, and entail exposure to extreme heat, cold, dust, rain and other environmental conditions; Worker must be able to crouch, bend, lift and carry up to 100 pounds; Drivers license required.
