Job Duties:

Workers will operate and maintain a variety of tractors, farm equipment, and power machinery to support both crop production and livestock operations. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors and self-propelled machinery utilizing auto-guidance/auto-steer systems; planting and seeding equipment such as planters and grain drills; crop protection and fertility equipment such as sprayers and fertilizer applicators; tillage equipment; harvest and grain-handling equipment such as combines and grain carts; haying equipment such as mowers, rakes, tedders, and balers; material-handling and earth-moving equipment such as skid steers, wheel loaders, excavators, dozers, and forklifts; feeding and manure-handling equipment such as feed mixers, bale processors, and manure spreaders; livestock handling and transport equipment such as hydraulic squeeze chutes, portable corrals, and livestock trailers; farm vehicles such as non-CDL farm trucks and ATVs/UTVs; and a range of shop, hand, and power tools such as chainsaws, post drivers, generators, and pressure washers. Non-CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Crop duties include planting, irrigating, fertilizing, spraying, cultivating, harvesting, and transporting crops to the elevator or storage area. Workers will participate in irrigation activities including laying pipe, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain an adequate water supply to crops. Workers will also load seed into planters, properly mix chemicals, load chemicals into sprayers, change combine cutting heads, and rogue fields using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields. Workers will also perform a full range of livestock duties, including assisting with all aspects of calving cows and bred heifers, monitoring for signs of labor, providing support during delivery, and ensuring proper postnatal care. Newborn calves may need to be lifted and carried to safe or designated areas for treatment and care. Workers will wean calves from cows, manage the separation process, monitor calf health and behavior, and provide appropriate nutrition during the transition. Duties include moving and handling livestock in accordance with rotational grazing practices, relocating cattle between pastures to maintain forage quality and pasture health, monitoring livestock during movements, and ensuring adequate access to water and forage. Workers will perform fencing duties, including installing, repairing, maintaining, and removing permanent and temporary fencing, setting and moving electric fencing used in grazing systems, and maintaining gates and related livestock containment systems. Feeding tasks involve mixing and distributing rations based on livestock nutritional requirements, lifting and handling heavy bags of minerals and supplements, and moving hay bales manually or with equipment, while ensuring animals have clean, consistent access to feed and water and adjusting rations as needed based on health or seasonal conditions. Workers will monitor livestock health daily, identify and promptly address signs of illness or injury, administer medications and supplements as needed, and perform routine livestock husbandry tasks such as ear tagging, implanting, castrating, and performing pregnancy checks. Workers will support veterinary visits by gathering and restraining animals, preparing treatment areas, and recording health information. Fly and pest control measures include regularly spraying cattle with appropriate treatments to reduce the impact of flies and other external parasites, especially during warm months. Special Requirements:

Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy skills are required. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping, or bending. Random drug testing and criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure safe housing and work environments for all workers. Positive drug test results or refusal to comply with testing may result in termination of employment. If the employer discovers a criminal conviction record or status as a registered sex offender that the employer reasonably believes, consistent with current law, will impair the safety and living conditions of other workers, the employer may terminate the worker (foreign and/or domestic) with notification to OFLC and DHS in accordance with 20 CFR 655.122(n).
