Job Duties:

Performs any of the following tasks to attend to livestock: Herd livestock to winter pastures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Spray livestock with disinfectants and insecticides, or dip or bathe animals. room, clip, trim, dock ears and tails. Move livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts. Prepare barns for livestock births. Assist with livestock births. Move cattle to calving pastures. Maintain growth, feeding, production, and cost records of livestock. Clean stalls using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos. Maintain feedlot areas and clean water supplies. Shift animals between feedlot areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food. Maintain heated watering system. Clean using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Maintain livestock equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences and perform incidental repairs. Drive to town for cattle supplies on occasion. No Commercial Driver's License Required and No Commercial Driving performed.
