Job Duties:

Workers will perform duties associated with the harvest, handling, and storage of sweet potatoes. Duties include: Operate tractors and agricultural equipment during harvest, including front-end loaders and forklifts. Transport, load, and unload harvested sweet potatoes from the field into storage facilities. Communicate with field supervision. Grade and monitor harvest quality. Performing general farm work as assigned. Communicate field conditions, such as soil moisture, equipment performance, and harvest quality concerns to supervisors and crew leaders. Perform routine/basic equipment inspection and maintenance, including checking and maintaining fuel, oil, hydraulic fluid, and coolant levels, greasing machinery, inspecting tires, hoses, belts, and connections, cleaning equipment, and promptly reporting mechanical issues. Participate in safety trainings, orientations and all other company meetings as required. Follow supervisor instructions always and arrive to work on time. Perform general site clean up of spilled potatoes or dirt piles that have collected. Includes using: shovels, hoes, brooms, leaf blowers, pressure washers. All tools will be provided at no cost. Required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time during work shift. Routinely required to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, and reach, in the performance of job function. Requires the essential use of hands, speech, eyesight, and hearing. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral and depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus as needed.

Special Requirements:

3 months experience operating and performing maintenance on agriculture equipment within the past 2 years. 3 months experience required working with potatoes or sweet potatoes. Hours of work will be offered above 40 hours per week, but is on a voluntary basis. Work schedules may fluctuate relative to weather conditions, field conditions, and contract needs. Work will be offered on weekends and holidays, but is voluntary. Work hours may fluctuate due to production schedules. Employees must be able to perform the duties and meet the physical requirements of the job for the duration of the contract.
