- Job Duties:
- Perform heavy manual labor on an oyster farm, including harvest, cleaning, sorting oysters by size and quality, and packing for shipment. Work in wet and varying weather conditions while standing for long periods. Duties include cleaning and repairing equipment (hoses with fresh water and brooms and brushes will be used to clean salt water off of baskets and buckets, and to clean floors and walls of the boat; touch up paint using brushes), wire up damaged baskets, sharpen knives, replace worn gloves and possibly other simple tasks using hand tools), tracking inventory, recording daily harvest quantities and assisting with loading and transport ( using hoists with rope and pulleys), hand carts, pallet jacks, and lift gates on trucks to move cargo between the boat and trucks on the dock).
