Job Duties:
Workers will perform agricultural duties associated with the production, harvesting, handling, storage, and sale of hay and the operation and maintenance of farm equipment and irrigation systems. Duties may include: operate tractors, balers, and other agricultural equipment used to mow, rake, ted, bale, and transport hay; bale hay; pick up, stack, move, load, and unload hay bales by hand and/or with farm equipment; stack hay in barns and storage areas; load hay onto trucks and trailers for customers purchasing hay from the farm; secure and prepare hay loads for transport. Workers will install, move, connect, disconnect, and maintain agricultural sprinkler and irrigation lines used in crop production. Inspect irrigation equipment and perform routine repairs and maintenance as necessary. Perform routine and light mechanical maintenance and repairs on tractors, balers, irrigation equipment, and other farm machinery. Duties may include greasing equipment, changing fluids and filters, replacing belts, hoses and worn parts, and assisting with preventative maintenance and minor repairs. Perform minor electrical repairs and wiring related to tractors, irrigation systems, and other agricultural machinery and equipment, including inspecting and replacing damaged wiring, connectors, switches, lights, and similar electrical components. Workers may assist in organizing and coordinating daily agricultural work activities, including preparing equipment and materials needed for the day's work, determining the order in which assigned farm tasks will be performed, and communicating work assignments as directed by the farm owner or manager. Workers will not have authority to hire, fire, discipline, set wages, or make other personnel decisions. Workers will clean and maintain farm equipment, tools, barns, hay storage areas, and work areas. Perform routine farm maintenance and other agricultural duties related to hay and crop production as assigned. Operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (weather on or off the farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach the farm fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as needed basis Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess an appropriate license, no one will be rejected for this position that does not possess a drivers license.
