Job Description

Full Time:
Yes
Number of Workers Requested:
1
Job Duties:
We have a seasonal need for additional labor during the winter months when livestock must be maintained in confinement due to the unavailability of pasture. The period of need is from November to March. During this time, cattle and sheep require significantly increased labor compared to other times of the year. Feeding shifts from grazing to the daily preparation and distribution of mixed rations and stored feeds, bedding must be applied and maintained more frequently, and pens require regular cleaning to ensure proper sanitation. Livestock must also be closely monitored in confinement for signs of illness, injury, or weather-related conditions, requiring more frequent observation and care. While livestock are maintained year-round, during non-winter months animals are primarily on pasture, which reduces the level of labor required for feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring. The employer maintains a smaller, permanent workforce sufficient for normal operations; however, this workforce is not adequate to meet the increased labor demands during the winter confinement period. Therefore, additional temporary workers are needed to perform these time-specific, labor-intensive duties to ensure proper care and maintenance of the herds.
