Job Duties:

This position performs hands-on animal care and feeding duties for a beef cattle ranching operation during the winter production season. Primary duties include feeding livestock by hauling and distributing hay to cattle held in the feedlot; handling livestock during feeding, movement, and routine care; monitoring livestock health and wellbeing, including observing animals for signs of illness or injury and assisting with their care; driving tractors to feed hay to cattle; and maintaining fences that contain the herd across the feedlot, pasture, and fence lines. Duties also include cutting and baling hay to support the winter feed supply for the herd, and maintaining feeding equipment in safe working order. Work is performed outdoors across the feedlot, pasture, and fence lines, frequently in cold and snowy conditions. A minimum of three months of verifiable prior experience in livestock or cattle feeding operations, including experience driving a tractor to feed hay, is required to carry out feeding, animal care, hay production, and fence maintenance tasks safely and correctly. This experience threshold reflects the complexity of winter feeding operations, where errors in feed delivery, hay handling, or animal care can affect herd health and operational safety. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.

Special Requirements:

Minimum of 3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced LevelPursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision. The employer reserves the right to withhold the applicable housing deduction as permitted under program regulations, when approved and disclosed in the job order.
