- Job Duties:
- Workers will perform temporary agricultural labor associated with the dairy's seasonal manure management and crop production cycle. The workers will assist with the management of manure generated by the dairy herd and the application of manure to agricultural fields during the period of peak field application and crop-production activities . Duties will include , but are not limited to: Collecting, handling, loading, hauling and transporting dairy manure from livestock facilities to agricultural fields. Operating tractors, loaders, manure spreaders, tankers, pumps and other agricultural equipment used in manure handling and application. Spreading dairy manure on agricultural fields in accordance with farm management practices and field conditions. Preparing fields for winter crops and cover crops following the removal of summer crops. Assisting with field preparation, tillage , soil conditioning, and agricultural activities following corn harvest. Assisting with the harvest of winter crops. Preparing harvested fields for the following corn crop. Performing routine cleaning, inspection, lubrication, and basic maintenance of manure-handling and agricultural equipment. Assisting with general livestock and dairy- facility activities when necessary in connection with manure handling, livestock movement, sanitation, and the seasonal agricultural workload
