Job Duties:

WATERMELON HARVESTING, VEGETABLE HARVESTING, GROVE CLEAN-UP, LAND PREPARATION AND GENERAL AGRICULTURAL DUTIES: Workers will perform manual labor to hand-cut and harvest watermelons using knives, shears, and other hand tools. Duties include cleaning, loading, unloading, sorting, grading harvested products; moving pallets and farm equipment; operating forklifts when properly trained and authorized; and building boxes and lids. Workers will clean floors, conveyor belts, tables, bathrooms, and work areas daily. These activities are part of the harvesting operation and are included in the applicable disclosed piece-rate arrangement, subject to required wage guarantees.Workers will grade and sort products according to color, size, appearance, weight, and quality. Workers will discard defective products, remove foreign materials, weigh and count products, place acceptable products into containers, label grades, and inspect packaging to ensure specifications are met. Workers must follow all Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and food safety requirements.Workers may perform grove and field clean-up, including removing debris, boxes, and discarded fruit; pruning and painting trees; maintaining fence lines; repairing irrigation equipment; and moving farm equipment. Duties also include operating planting and automatic weeding machines, laying and removing plastic mulch and drip tape, gathering used materials, and loading and unloading bales of plastic at designated locations. Where crew piece rates apply, production units will be divided among crew members according to the calculation disclosed in the job order.Land preparation duties include operating tractors and agricultural equipment, installing and maintaining irrigation systems, laying plastic, moving irrigation pipes, digging and maintaining ditches, and installing or removing levee gates. Workers may apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other crop treatments when properly trained and authorized.Shuttle drivers will transport workers between employer-provided housing and agricultural worksites. Duties include conducting field walks, assisting with timekeeping, filling drinking-water containers each morning, and ensuring field sanitation standards are maintained throughout the workday. Drivers will also transport workers weekly for essential errands, including grocery shopping and check cashing. Shuttle drivers are included in this job classification because more than 80% of their actual duties are performed in the field and involve agricultural support responsibilities beyond driving, including assisting with field operations, worker coordination, and sanitation. All driving duties will be performed by properly licensed and authorized drivers.Workers will also harvest and field-pack vegetables, including summer squash, winter squash, and other designated crops. Duties include planting, cultivating, shoveling, hauling, spreading manure, digging, harvesting, sorting, packing, and loading vegetables using shovels, hoes, trowels, pruning hooks, shears, and knives.Corn Harvesting: Workers will manually harvest corn by hand-picking ears from stalks, placing corn into containers, and loading and unloading harvested products. Duties include sorting, grading, inspecting, counting, and field-packing corn; removing damaged ears and crop debris; and maintaining clean harvesting areas. Workers may also assist with planting, cultivating, weeding, and operating tractors and harvesting equipment when properly trained and authorized.Workers must safely operate all equipment and be able to perform prolonged standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Workers will receive no less than the highest applicable required wage, including supplemental pay when necessary to meet applicable wage requirements. A copy of the work contract and applicable modifications will be provided within the time required by H-2A regulations.
