Job Duties:

Classy Cajun Oyster Farm needs 40 Temporary Oyster Plant Workers to work in our Oyster processing plant located at 6888 Grand Caillou Road, Dulac LA 70353 in Terrebonne Parish County. Starting October 14, 2021, to August 01, 2022. Must have 3 months exp. no education; willing to undergo pre-employment Drug Testing and Random Drug Testing, at employers expense. Worker must be able to stand for long periods of time to perform duties and endure working in a cold and wet environment. Tools, supplies and equipment required to perform duties will be provided to workers at no cost. Workers will clean and sanitize plant in preparation when oysters arrive from shore to be processed in plant. Upon arrival workers place oysters immediately on shaking tables and separate the oysters depending on quality; clean, pack, weigh, label and place the oysters in ice boxes in preparation for pick-up or shipment to restaurants or establishments who offer oysters for consumption, or wholesalers. Daily transportation to and from plant will be provided to workers from Central location (222 Mark Street, Chauvin, LA 70344) to plant located (6888 Grand Caillou Road, Dulac LA, 70353) at no cost to workers. Public transportation is available to central location. Workers will work a rotating Work Scheduled: Monday to Friday - 6:00AM to 2:00PM or 2:00PM to 10:00PM or 10:00PM to 6:00AM (7hrs) and Saturday 6:00AM to 11:00AM or 11:00AM to 4:00PM or 4:00PM to 9:00PM. The anticipated employment will last 120 days or more. The employer guarantees to offer work for a total of hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12 week period of the total employment period. H2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees). Workers will be paid weekly, a single work week will be used to compute wages. "If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will "reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contact or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the workers reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier of the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $13.17 per day during travel to a maximum of $55.00 per day with receipts" Accommodations is available to workers for $65.00 per month with utilities included in this monthly fee.
