- Job Duties:
- Applicants will become proficient in shaping trimming, cutting, modifying, and laying stone and brick using power tools, cutting equipment, hand tools, and other tools and equipment. Applicants will erect scaffolding and other installation structures and may dig trenches for foundation of monuments. Lay out wall patterns, set vertical and horizontal alignment of structures, and mix mortar or grout for use on stone slabs/natural stone. Applicants will also remove wedges, fill joints between stones, and finish joints between stones, using trowels and tuck pointers for an attractive finish. Position requires applicants to cut tile, stone, or other masonry materials, mark reference points on construction materials, align and set stone or brick in place according to layout or pattern, construct and install prefabricated masonry units, lay brick to build shells of chimneys, replace broken or missing masonry units, drill, smooth, polish, and bevel surfaces using hand and power tools. Applicants will clean excess mortar and grout from surfaces using sponges, brushes, water, and masonry detergent. Applicants will remove materials from trucks and guide to foundation using skids, hoist, truck crane, or other moving/lifting equipment. They will also repair cracked or chipped areas of stone, brick, or marble using power grinders, chisels, and hammers.
