Job Duties:

Entry Level Seafood packer. This is a temporary, seasonal full-time position. Job duties include hand sorting by size and placing crabs in containers for market. Packers will be responsible for sorting crabs by hand and placing them by hand in containers. Workers will work in aquaculture products only. An Entry Level Seafood Packer is a person who will be working with live Maryland Blue Crabs only. The seafood buyer requires the Maryland Blue Crabs to be sorted between male and female crabs. The seafood buyer requires the Maryland Blue Crabs to be sorted by size into Large and Small. The Entry Level Seafood Packer will place all females by hand in a container to be transported to the buyer. The Maryland Blue Crabs do not need to be placed in any particular manner into the container, they are simply tossed into the container until it is full. The male Maryland Blue Crabs are sorted by size, either small or large, (the smallest size is based on the Maryland Department of Natural Resources-state government agency. Large is anything above the smallest size set by the state government) and placed in the same fashion by being tossed into containers until full. No special materials are required for the packing of the Maryland Blue Crabs into the containers. An Entry Level Seafood Packers simply uses their hands to do so. No educational experience is needed.

Applicants are subject to drug screening as a job requirement. Minimum job requirements include sorting and packaging crabs at a rate of 80 pots per hour. Applicants must be able to do manual labor aboard a fishing vessel in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
