- Landscape or maintain grounds of properties using hand or power tools or equipment; operate mowers, edgers, weed eaters, sprayers, chainsaws, concrete saws, patching machines, tamping devices, and other simple machines and equipment; water, fertilize, dig, and rake as needed to care for the grounds; place and install plants, trees, and sod; use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes; prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws; participate in cleaning to gather and remove litter; and perform other duties as assigned by operation manger and site foreman.
If the workers were going to install concrete masonry wall units, no mortar would be used. The pre-made blocks would be supplied to the employees and the employees would stack the blocks according to the design provided to them.
All duties required by the H-2b beneficiaries can be done on the ground (no ladders will be used).
Maintain grounds of primarily commercial properties using hand or power tools or equipment; How the grounds will be maintained, the use of hand tools, the use of power tools, and the use of equipment are described in the other job duties below.
Operate mowers, edgers, weed eaters, patching machines, tamping devices, and other simple machines and equipment; The employees will operate ride-on lawn mowers to cut the lawn using the appropriate settings as instructed by the Site Foreman. The employees will use an edger to clean up around the walkways by driving the edger gently into the ground and keeping it as straight as possible. The employees will use a weed eater cut the grass up against the commercial buildings or other hard to reach places.
Water, fertilize, dig, and rake as needed to care for the grounds; These tasks are primarily handled by our irrigation crew (not the landscaping maintenance crew). However, every once in a while, the landscaping maintenance crew may need water, fertilize, dig, or rake if an immediate need for these tasks arises, such as replacing a dead plant, tree, or sod. The employees will use a rake to rake up leaves or other debris on the grounds.
Place and install plants, trees, and sod; If there is a dead plant, tree, or patch of sod on the commercial property, the employees will need to replace it. The plants, trees, or patches of sod are provided by a third-party vendor. The employees will remove the dead plant, tree, or sod. For the plants and trees, the employees will prepare the proper planting hole, remove the plant or tree from the pot and inspect the roots, amend with soil, and eliminate the air pockets. If necessary, the employees will add mulch and water plant or tree. For sod, using a combination between the shovel and the rake the employee will remove dead sod and lay a piece of new sod. If necessary, the employees will water the replaced sod.
Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes; These hand tools will be used to complete various tasks such as pruning and trimming trees, shrubs, or hedges. These hand tools will also be used to replace dead sod, trees, or plants. Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chainsaws; Employees will start will a set of hand pruners trimming smaller branches to remove disease, damage, and dead debris from the trees, shrubs, or hedges. Hand operated shears will be used to sculpt the trees, shrubs, or hedges when needed. Chainsaws will rarely be used, but if they are, it will before the purpose of removing larger limbs from trees.
Participate in cleaning to gather and remove litter; and The employees will walk around the commercial properties gathering litter with a trash bag and a picker. Perform other duties as assigned by operation manger and site foreman.
