Job Duties:

Janitors and Cleaners, Except Maids and Housekeeping Cleaners at Stage Neck Inn, Inc. Start Date: April 1, 2024 End Date: November 30, 2024 Stage Neck Inn, Inc, located in York Harbor, Maine, seeks two (2) full-time, temporary Janitors and Cleaners, Except Maids and Housekeeping Cleaners who will be responsible for servicing, cleaning, or supplying restrooms, cleaning building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming, and gathering and empty trash. Duties include: • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications. • Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees. • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems. • Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. • Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment. • Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors. • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures. • Steam-clean or shampoo carpets. • Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks. • Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, or snow shovels, or spread snow-melting chemicals. • Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours or checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. • Mow or trim lawns or shrubbery, using mowers or hand or power trimmers, and clear debris from grounds. • Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings. • Make adjustments or minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, or electrical systems. • Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using commercial cleaning equipment. • Spray insecticides or fumigants to prevent insect or rodent infestation. • Drive vans, industrial trucks, or other vehicles required to travel to, or to perform, cleaning work. • Clean chimneys, flues, and connecting pipes, using power or hand tools. • All other duties as assigned. Janitors and Cleaners, Except Maids and Housekeeping Cleaners must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds, walk up and down stairs, and must be able to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull and move continuously during working hours. Day, evening, weekday and weekend shifts are required. Overtime hours may be available and will be paid according to Department of Labor regulations. Experience: Stage Neck Inn requires no specific skills, licenses/certificates/certifications or previous experience to be considered for employment. Janitors and Cleaners, Except Maids and Housekeeping Cleaners will report directly to the Maintenance Manager at Stage Neck Inn. Travel is not required. Daily transportation to and from worksite is not provided. On-the-job training is provided. Wage is $18.02 per hour, paid bi-weekly. Wage increases may be available based on past experience or skill set. Overtime is available at $27.03. Schedule: 35 hours per week. Work schedule can vary and can include day, evening, weekday and weekend hours. Work may be performed on any day of the week from Monday through Sunday. Work hours are from 9:00am to 4:00pm and may vary. A single workweek will be used to compute wages due. In accordance with Maine state law, temporary, seasonal workers are eligible to accrue earned paid leave. Unused earned paid leave will be disbursed in the employee’s final paycheck if employee fulfills work contract terms. Housing is available and optional.
