- Apply paint, stain, varnish, or other finishes to structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers. Erect scaffolding and set up ladders, to work above ground level. Cover surfaces with dropcloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting. Read work orders and receive instructions from supervisors to determine work requirements.
