Job Duties:
Performs various General Laborer tasks to process raw product and put it in totes or in boxes. Will conduct clean-up tasks throughout the facility and equipment as instructed. Direct truck driver to the slab to park and dump vegetable product on slab chain conveyor belt. Clean floors by removing product waste, sweep, and dump waste in the garbage conveyor. Clean pea pits by scrubbing and shoveling the waste product into the pea pit. Clean screens, framework, and floors. Inspect washers, and verify that screens have the proper size, are clean and placed back in their designated spots. Remove rocks, plastic, wood, woody carrots and any other foreign material from the carrots or other vegetable product being processed. Stand and visually inspect and remove bad/brown kernels, stock, shavings, brown pieces, garbage, etc. as needed and throw the undesirable items into a garbage can and conveyor waste. Stand and visually inspect corn cobs and remove non/not fully shucked cobs and toss them into green chutes to be properly shucked. Pick out undesirable items from the table and throw them down a waste chute. Tote build, tote fill and tote closing. Requires employees to build cardboard boxes, add poles, and liners. Will inspect pallets and add the totes to lines for filling with product. Close totes with clear tape and add ticket number to totes as well as write ticket number on the tote. Rinse, scrub, remove ice from tunnel floors. Scrub and rinse tunnel walls, frames, and belts. Perform sanitation duties for up to 12 hours per shift. Clean the machinery with hoses, buckets, and color-coded scrubbing tools. Perform vegetable inspection, sorting, packaging, and quality control. Inspect loose corn/kernels and or other seasonal vegetables that move along a shaker table that shakes vegetables and undesirables in front of the worker. As the vegetables move along the shaker table, the worker removes (by using either hand and or a cooking spoon) bad/brown kernels, stock, shavings, brown pieces, garbage, etc. as needed and throws the undesirable items into a garbage can/waste chute. Stand and inspect frozen corn cobs and remove non/not fully shucked cobs and toss them into the recycle bin or waste tote. Stand and inspect codes and seals, hand pack products, close cases, and stack cases to above shoulder level. Clean the area as needed with brooms and waste pans. Other general labor duties as assigned.

The employee will continuously and frequently be lifting and/or moving 20-55 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a range of arm movements necessary to continue work loads, as well as cleaning supplies; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently standing/walking; as well as constantly lifting, stoop, or crouched. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously exposed to warm wet conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and potential cleaning substances. The noise level in the work environment is excessively noisy due to plant machinery and equipment. Knowledge of cleaning requirements and packaging standards, use of sanitation chemicals, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Fall Prevention, and other safety programs. Will receive on the job training. Ability to reach; climb equipment ladders to access upper equipment. If height over 6 ft. employee will be required to wear harness. Ability to properly use tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner, whether it is metal cleaning tools, totes, cardboard systems, water hoses, to performing moving tasks such as the conveyor belt system.
