Job Duties:

Fontana Transport, Inc. (“Fontana” or “Employer”) is requesting seven (7) temporary, full-time, H-2B workers in the capacity of CDL Truck Drivers based at the Company’s location in Memphis, Tennessee. The temporary CDL Truck Drivers that Fontana is requesting through the H-2B program will be responsible for the following: Driver will be employed at Company's Memphis Terminal at 1896 E. Brooks Road, Memphis, Tennessee, as a local Commercial Truck Driver. The driver will be driving from the 1896 E. Brooks Road terminal to different warehouse locations in a 50-mile radius from the terminal to pick up or deliver freight. The driver will return to the terminal at the end of daily delivery/pickup. Driver will be driving a manual engine tractor (Sleeper or day cab manual engine unit), and a 53-foot dry van. The driver will not load or unload cargo (no touch to the driver), but will be responsible for making sure the correct bills are collected from the shipper and receiver. Drivers are responsible for reporting any issues with equipment after conducting a pre/post inspection. It is important for the driver to know how to use a GPS and know required routes. Driver will be required to perform pre-and post- trip inspections, and determine safety of equipment to perform work. Driver will conduct break and light checks on equipment check fluids (oil, water, coolant), during breaks to make sure equipment is taken care of, and mitigate on the road breakdowns. Driver will be required to identify the need for the 5th wheel adjustments or repairs, and be able to successfully and safely attach/detach trailer from truck, and lower down feet to properly move truck away and leave trailer docked. Driver will also perform tire checks and identify low, inflated, or worn-out tires, including its thread depth and tire condition; open and close 53- foot trailer doors; and properly secure them for hauling. Driver must learn truck routes and know truck exits, bridge height restrictions, and follow directions from dispatch on a turn-by-turn basis. Driver must go inside trailers and count pallets and read bills for product accuracy when picking up and delivering product, and must match product on pallets with bills received at the pickup locations. The driver will be driving an 18-wheeler tractor truck and trailer from the 1896 E. Brooks Road terminal to different warehouse locations in a 50-mile radius from the terminal to pick up or deliver freight. The driver will return to the terminal at the end of daily delivery/pickup. Driver will be driving a manual engine tractor (Sleeper or day cab manual engine unit), and an attached 53-foot dry van. The combined Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of the truck, trailer, and freight is 80,000 pounds. The tractor itself weighs approximately 16,000-18,000 pounds. Travel Details: Driver will be employed and based out of the Company's Memphis, Tennessee Terminal at 1896 E. Brooks Road, Memphis, TN 38116. The driver will be driving from the 1896 E. Brooks Road terminal to different, as yet unknown, warehouse locations in a maximum 50- mile radius to pick up or deliver freight on a daily basis. At the end of each drive, the driver will return to the 1896 E. Brooks Road terminal. The counties the driver will drive to and from are: Shelby County (Memphis, Tennessee); Crittenden County (West Memphis, Arkansas); and Desoto County (Olive Branch, Mississippi).

Special Requirements:

Must possess a valid Class "A license" from the US (or the equivalent license from Mexico or Canada) that permits operation of a commercial vehicle in the United States. Must know how to operate a manual 10-speed tractor trailer truck. Must not have any DUIs/DWIs in the past 5 years. Must be able and willing to take and pass a Department of Transportation drug screen, physical, and comprehensive background check.
