Job Duties:
Workers will work on large oyster boats, catching thousands of oysters at various water parcels using dredge nets; workers will assist in repairing nets when needed, assist with dropping nets from boats into the water, and assist with scraping the bottom surface and scooping up the oysters until the nets are filled with oysters; workers will assist raising the nets full of oysters out of the water and gently placing the oyster nets onto boat decks; workers will remove the oyster from the net, measure its size to ensure the oyster is of 3” in size, ensure the oyster is not ill or has not died. Once the oysters are removed from the nets and separated, cleaned, bagged, weighed, and labeled, and the boat has reached its 25-bag limit, they are brought to port for pick up and taken to the processing plant. The anticipated employment will last 120 days or more. Employer guarantees to offer work for a total number of hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the entire employment period. H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees). Transportation for H-2B Visa workers and non-commuting United States Workers, including meals and lodging to the extent necessary to the place of employment, will be provided, or its cost to workers will be reimbursed within the first week of arrival. Upon completion of the work contract or when the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will pay for the worker's reasonable transportation and subsistence costs to return home or where the worker initially departed. The employer will also pay reasonable transportation and subsistence costs to workers who will not return home due to subsequent employment with another employer. The employer will not pay for return transportation and subsistence to workers reported to have voluntarily abandoned employment. The transportation payment or reimbursement amount will equal the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily meals will be paid at $15.88 p/day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 p/day with receipts.

Special Requirements:
Must have one month of experience working on a large fishing vessel as a deckhand worker fishing or dredging for oysters. Workers must be physically fit to assist with pulling out large fishing nets filled with live oysters Monday to Friday (Rotating Shift Work) 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM or 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM (7 hours) Saturday's 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM or 11:00 to 4:00 PM (Rotating Shifts) 5 hours Workers are paid weekly. All deductions required by law will be made to workers' paychecks. Public transportation is available to the job site at 7311 Grand Caillou Road, Dulac, Louisiana 70353, in Terrebonne County.
