Job Duties:
Technical Competencies Ability to understand and interpret pipe fabrication block/installation drawings and isometric construction drawings. Understand quality criteria for acceptable work per construction drawings. Examines blueprints applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat requirements, difference of type of materials and metal thickness. Mark reference points onto pipe or bulkheads, transposes points by using plumb bob to work piece using measuring devices, squares, chalk, and soapstone. Ability to align and join pipe to pipe connections/misalignments at block level. Ability to identify different systems requirements for mechanical completion as different types of valves functionality. Ability to plan pipe system layout, installation or repair according to specifications. Knowledge of different types of fitting connections, threads, sealing gaskets, crimping, hydraulic systems etc. Tools use Competencies Fit, Cut, thread, bend, clamp and hammer pipe to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threader, pipe benders, jigs and fixtures, bevel machine, etc. Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment according to specifications by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering and threading joints. Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures such as radiators or tanks using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment. Tack welds fitted parts together. Inspect, examine and test installed systems and low pressure pipe lines by following proper testing procedures. Measure and mark pipes for cutting, pipe bending, threading, clamping or crimping. Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports and related equipment following blueprints. Cut and bore holes in structures such as bulkheads, decks, walls and mains prior to pipe installation using hand and power tools. Inspect work sites for obstructions and ensure that holes will not cause structural damage. Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements or facility floors. Other Qualifications Responsible for its own work quality wise, both fitting and welding, including inspection. Understand and follow HSE specific safety rules for the intended application. Contribute fully to the team effort to maintain 5S, workstation cleanliness organization.
