- BVR, LLC dba Bolton Valley Resort seeks Line Cooks, 7 openings, Temporary full-time positions from 11/23/24 to 03/31/25 in Bolton, VT. Line Cooks: Inspect and clean food preparation areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices. Ensure freshness of food and ingredients, inventory, ordering, and rotating stock. Ensure food is prepared, stored, and cooked correctly. Season and cook food according to recipes. Portion, arrange, and garnish food. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment. Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables. This job requires continuous movement, regularly bending, lifting, pushing. Must be flexible, communicate effectively, speak clear English, be a team player. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. No experience necessary; will train. Workers will be paid no less than $20.28 per hour. Returning workers and workers with more experience may be paid higher wage rates up to $21.00 per hour. Overtime hours may be available at a rate ranging from $30.42 to $31.50 per hour. Generally: min. of 35 hours per week, on average 5-8 hours per workday and 5 workdays per week. Weekends and holidays required. Various shifts available but normally 6:30am-2:30pm, 7:30am-3:30pm, or 2pm-10pm daily.
Conditions of employment for H2B and U.S. workers: Initial transportation to begin the seasonal/peak employment (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if the worker completes half the employment period. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. Daily subsistence will be at least $15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts. 2. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. 3. The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job. 4. Employer will use a single work week for computing wages starting each Monday at 1200 am and ending Sunday at 1159 pm and the employee will be paid weekly. 5. H-2B workers will be reimbursed during the first workweek for subsistence, visa, visa processing and related costs, except passport costs, by company check. 6. Optional studio apartments with double or triple occupancy located at the Resort available, first come first served while available, for a weekly total unit fee of $250 week. Double occupancy rates are $125 per person; Triple occupancy rates are $83.30 per person (cost of housing payroll deducted if worker elects). 7. Worksites are located on the Resort within walking distance of housing. 8. Employer will make deductions from worker’s paycheck required by law. No deduction not required by law will be made that brings the worker’s hourly earnings below the FLSA Federal statutory minimum wage. 9. Employees with more experience, or returning employees, may be offered a higher wage rate. 10. Bolton Valley Resort is located in a remote mountain village, four miles up an access road. There is no public transportation to or from the resort. During certain times it may be difficult to travel to surrounding areas to do laundry and shopping. There are no laundry services at the resort. Taxis to Burlington, VT, the nearest big city, start around $100 one-way. 11. Duty meals available.
