Job Duties:

Working in a seafood processing and packing facility, duties will be to assist in the operation, maintenance, and tending of the cannery's packing and filler machines for seafood production (fish such as Pollock, Halibut, Pacific Cod, Black Cod, Rockfish, Herring, Salmon, and various Crab species.) Adjust machine components, machine tension, and pressure according to size of fish. Post-season operating equipment clean-up. Assistance with other plant and company small machine maintenance projects as needed. Work will be performed at OBI Alaska processing and packing facilities in Kodiak, Seward, Petersburg, Cordova, Naknek, Egegik, Dillingham, and Larsen Bay AK. Daily transportation to and from employer provided housing to worksites provided by theemployer. Assistance with other plant and company small machine maintenance projects as needed.3 months of verifiable work experience with seafood packing and using packing and filler machines. Pre-employment criminal background check, paid for by the employer. Subject to post-hire and post-injury or accident drug testing , paid for by the employer. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and extended shifts and schedules including 7 day work week as required. Optional, shared housing including utilities provided to workers at no cost to workers. Optional meals during shift available for $15 per day if worker completes 8 hour shift. Optional payroll deduction for meals if worker elects. Workers with 4 or more years tenure are exempt from meal deduction if complete 8 hour shift. Employer will offer minimum 35 hours of work per week, overtime possible of 40 hours or more per week. Extensive overtime is frequently required with total workdays up to 16 hours. Seafood Plants are open 7 days a week, workdays vary Sunday through Saturday. Rotating schedule, shift times 6AM-6PM, 6PM-6AM.Workdays and shift times will vary with seafood deliveries and other factors. Basic wage rate: $19.47 per hour. If AK resident, employer offers $0.50 per hour in addition to basic wage rate. Employer may increase wage or provide bonus based on experience, skill, market conditions, and/or provide additional pay for performance and tenure. Overtime hours possible not guaranteed at $29.21 per hour as required by Federal, State, or local law, including required time-and-a-half after 8 hours in any given day, or greater than 40 hours in any given work week.
