Job Duties:
CBI Operations, LLC dba Chatham Bars Inn seeks Junior Sous Chefs, 5 openings, Temporary full-time positions from 04/01/25 to 11/30/25 in Chatham, MA. Junior Sous Chefs: responsible for preparation, assembly, and final presentation of ingredients according to the company's recipes and specifications and ensuring the quality of cooked/prepared food while utilizing a large range of kitchen skills including slicing, grinding, frying, and baking during food service. The Junior Sous Chefs works directly for the Sous Chef and will assist: prepare requisitions for supplies and food items; detection and disposal of unattractive and spoiled foods; promote workplace safety, food safety, and customer safety; draft working schedules; train subordinate staff (cooks and interns); maintain order and discipline in the kitchen; create tasting menus and customized menus for functions; develop cross-marketing strategy; ensure equipment is in good condition; ensure food assembly line is prepared; and ensure accurate assembly of dishes to be served in a timely manner, as ordered, during all meal services. Must be able to lift and carry food and kitchen supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. Minimum of 4 months experience as a Jr. Sous-chef required. Workers will be paid no less than $20.97 per hour. Returning workers and workers with more experience may be paid higher wage rates up to $27.00 per hour. Overtime hours may be available at a rate ranging from $31.46 to $40.50 per hour. Generally, min. of 35 hours per week, on average 7 hours per workday and 5 workdays per week. Weekends and holidays required. Various shifts required, but generally 6:00am-2:00pm, 2:00pm-10:00pm; or 12:00 am to 8:00 am. Conditions of employment for H2B and U.S. workers: 1. Initial transportation to begin the seasonal/peak employment (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if the worker completes half the employment period. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. Daily subsistence will be at least $15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts. 2. H-2B workers will be reimbursed during the first workweek for subsistence, visa, visa processing and related costs, except passport costs, by company check. 3. The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job. 4. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. 5. Employer will use a single work week for computing wages starting each Sunday at 1200 am and ending Saturday at 1159 pm and the employee will be paid bi-weekly. 6. Optional, voluntary dormitory style housing available, first come first served while available, at a cost ranging $180-$210 per week (not deducted from payroll). 7. All hired workers (incl. H-2B and U.S.) must complete company application and pass standard background investigation, which is paid for by the employer and conducted after offer and acceptance and prior to commencement of employment. 8. Eligible for health and dental insurance after 60 days of employment. 9. Limited daily transportation offered from arranged lodging. 10. Complimentary duty meals available. 11. Employer will make deductions from worker’s paycheck required by law. 12. Employees with more experience, or returning employees, may be offered a higher wage rate.
