- Job Duties:
- Use pulleys, cables and hooks attached to cranes to lift heavy objects such as steel beams, bundles of rebar, and mechanical equipment. Verify center of gravity on different shape and sizes of pipe, boxes, crates, motors, valves, skids etc. Determine the working load limit of wire rope slings, round slings, and nylon slings. Supervise and train Rigger Helpers. Load, transport, unload and assist in selecting all rigging tackle, according to weight and size of load to be moved. Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps. Attach loads with appropriate rigging tackle to crane hook. Give directions to Crane Operator engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handlers, using hand signals, or radio communications. Assist Crane Operator in assembly and disassembly of cranes. Set up braces and rigs hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches. Direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment in ships, railroad cars or trucks, piperacks, laydown yards, structures, compressor decks. Load, transport and unload materials, tools, equipment and supplies. Clean and maintain tools, equipment and work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary. Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment. Plan and coordinate movement of cranes and set up. Air tugger placement and securement, fiar leads for hoist lines.
Equipment Used to Perform Job:
1. Protective Equipment: gloves, hard-hat, goggles, hearing protection, safety shoes, safety harness, FRC and respirator protection as required.
2. Various long and short handled tools (e.g. wrenches, hammer).
3. Tool pouch and tools.
Schedule: Monday to Thursday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm; Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
