- Netgunning is a highly specialized and dangerous job that requires years of experience, as well as an uncommon lifestyle. The net gunner works closely with a specialized pilot and must have the experience and knowledge in this type of work. This is imperative for the crews safety. The net gunner must have experience in handling and mugging techniques; taking biological samples, radio collar placement, ear tagging; GPS recording and taking and recording body measurements. The net gunner must have gunned out of a MD500 or Hughes 300 and R44 helicopters and be able to lift up to 200 lbs. The crew will be traveling for weeks in remote areas.
